Generations of Exceptional
Craftsmanship
Nottage Joinery was originally founded in 1964 by Mr Godfrey Fry. Mr G. Fry was a cabinet maker by trade, traditionally trained by some of the best joiners in the UK. After honing his skills, and learning everything he could about the trade, in 1964, Mr. G. Fry set out on his own.
In 1972 Mr. G. Fry moved the business to our current site in Village Farm Industrial Estate, Bridgend. Mr G. Fry mastered the skills he had learned from his mentors and focused his business on bespoke Woodworking and Joinery. Building bespoke staircases, furniture, windows, doors, and everything in between, Mr. G. Fry practiced the fundamentals of Customer Service & Quality Workmanship.
At age 16, Mr. Stephen Fry (Mr. G. Fry’s Son) joined the family business as an apprentice bench joiner and fitter. Mr. S. Fry trained under his father's guidance and completed his apprenticeship within the company working with some of the finest traditionally trained bench joiners. In 1991 Mr. Stephen Fry was appointed company Director becoming the second generation to run the Family Business. Under Mr. S. Fry, Nottage Joinery moved away from a production style of Joinery, to focus on fully bespoke joinery work.
Mr S. Fry’s approach of fully bespoke, and all in-house production, has created some very unique opportunities and a long list of very loyal clients. From Sash Windows in listed buildings to bespoke grand staircases, Nottage Joinery is well equipped to manufacture, supply and fit a wide range of premium timber goods to a very high standard.
